"Star" magazine reports that Britney has negotiated a 20week, $15million exclusive performance contract with the Maloof brothers (she has been photographed with George J. Maloof, who hosted her evening out with Paris Hilton, and who was "instrumental" in getting her first marriage annulled) for a Las Vegas residency.

Britney is to make a surprise appearance at the 2006 American Music Awards tomorrow night, flying in especially to present an award at the event. In addition, Kevin Federline and Britney Spears will reportedly make their last ever joint statement together, refuting claims that there is an adult video of them together.

"People" magazine reports that Britney Spears has been working in Las Vegas with Dr. Luke - otherwise known as Lukasz Gottwald (famous for his work on tracks by Kelly Clarkson, The Veronicas, Lady Sovereign, Paris Hilton & P!nk) - mixing tracks for her forthcoming fifth studio album. "Us Weekly" reports that the album could be out "as early as spring."

Britney's soon-to-be-ex-husband Kevin Federline left a message on the shower door of his dressing room after his gig at the House of Blues in Chicago, which was written the day after Britney filed for divorce. The note reads: "Today I’m a free man/ Ladies look out/ F*** a wife/ Give me my kids b****!" In other news, Britney has been seen dining at Dixie Springs Cafe in Kentwood, with 14-month-old baby Sean, and her brother Brian, yesterday.

According to reports, whilst Britney is in Miami, she will be working with Scott Storch on tracks for her 5th album, in addition to Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes. Storch is most well-known for his productions on Christina Aguilera's "Stripped," Beyonce's "Dangerously In Love," and most recently, Paris Hilton's "Paris." It is also reported that she is currently being "overseen" (as opposed to formally managed) by her former manager, Larry Rudolph.

Britney, who has been seen in and out of studios in Miami, New York and Los Angeles constantly, even working through the night, is to work with Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes again, after they produced "I'm A Slave 4 U" and "Boys" for her third album. At a Louis Vuitton party in New York City on Thursday night, the producer said, "The stuff I’m about to do is amazing, but I don’t like talking about what I’m about to do. OK, I’m going in with Britney."

Kevin Federline was speaking to his lawyer about divorcing Britney Spears more than a month before she filed to dissolve their marriage, according to reports. Federline's right to money is extremely limited because of the prenup agreement he was forced to sign prior to legally marrying Britney; it is believed he will receive 20% of the value of the couple's Malibu estate, valued at approximately $10million, and spousal support for one year (estimated at less than $250,000). By contesting Britney for custody of their children, it seems Federline is hoping he will be paid off to end the legal battle or get child support; an unlikely outcome, given her choice of divorce lawyer, the esteemed Laura Wasser.

Kevin Federline has responded to Britney's petition to dissolve their partnership, asking for legal and physical custody of the couple's children, with visitation rights for Britney. The response, filed on Wednesday by Mark Kaplan, also shows Federline is asking the court to award him spousal support. "Kevin is prepared to go the distance in order to do what he feels is necessary to protect and safeguard the children and will not be intimidated or dissuaded from pursuit of those goals," said Michael Sands, spokesman for Federline's attorney. Hours before Spears' attorney, Laura Wassey, filed the divorce papers, Federline was seen in Canada, getting a paparazzo to purchase him a $120 pair of trainers.

Last Thursday, Britney was spotted weeping in a NYC restaurant, appearingly stood up by her husband, having been staying in different hotels, with him touring in promotion of his record and her recording tracks for her new album. In paparazzi footage, Britney can be seen at the table, wiping away tears and talking to a man who appears to be her bodyguard; she then shows the man a new red dress with a tag on it, leaves the table and returns in the dress. A source told "In Touch" magazine,"They've grown so far apart that they sometimes go days without talking."

Just a day after filing legal papers to dissolve her marriage with Kevin Federline, Britney has been seen out and about, ice skating in New York City, accompanied by her former manager, Larry Rudolph, who steered Britney's career to global success; the pair separated professionally in 2004, when their contract expired, amid rumours he disliked Federline.

According to reports, Kevin Federline's debut album, "Playing With Fire," has debuted at #151 this week in the official Billboard Hot 200 albums, selling 6,495 copies in its first week. Tickets for Federline's tour, have been reduced to $0.00 (retailer Ticketmaster charges a $10 handling fee), due to lack of demand.

Britney Spears has filed legal papers to divorce her husband of two years, Kevin Federline, with whom she has two children, Jayden James and Sean Preston. Britney is citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for dissolving her marriage to Federline, and is asking for sole legal custody of the two children, with child visitation being granted to Federline, with legal fees to be shared between the couple. Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she made a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show, and has hired powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented Nick Lachey, Angelina Jolie and Kiefer Sutherland in the past. In a decision made today, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Hart Cole dismissed claims that an article printed in "Us Weekly," which claimed Britney Spears and Kevin Federline had recorded a 'sex tape' and had discussed and watched the tape with their lawyers, was defamatory. The judge went on to conclude that Spears has "put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye" which would make it unlikely for the article to be defamatory.
